UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review

UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review: Back To OG KOKO?

What’s up, vaper! Welcome back to VapePenZone Blog!

At just about the same time the UWELL Caliburn A2 came out, its twin – UWELL Caliburn AK2was released. They’re really alike since they’re the same generation (I assume) since they’re using the same pods. I did a review on the Caliburn A2; you can click here if you’d like to check that out first. And if I’m right, the UWELL Caliburn AK2 is the upgraded version of the OG Caliburn KOKO.

Anyways, in today’s post, it’s all about the UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review. Let’s see how good or bad this little biscuit-shaped vape is!

Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Unboxing

UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review - Kit Content

The unboxing experience is satisfying. The design is more clean and simple, nothing too fancy or cheap. As usual, the kit comes with a pretty useful user manual which is short and tells you everything you need to know before you start using the AK2. Also, the attention card telling you how to fill the pod is quite thoughtful.

After getting rid of all the cards, there’s our rockstar of this Caliburn AK2 Review – the Caliburn AK2 Device. The colour I’ve got here is Neon Orange, my favourite. They have other 3 Caliburn AK2 colors – Classic Black, Graphite Gray and Turquoise Blue. It’s a little short on the colours options here, but I think they’re making more.

There’s an empty pod preinstalled in the device with a plastic sticker attached to the bottom of the pod, preventing miss-firing. Remember to remove the sticker before you vape.

Above the device, there’s a little black box with the KOKO branding printed on it. You can get a silicone lanyard and a spare pod inside the box.

UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review - Lanyard

Now the special thing here is the design of the lanyard. Most of the vape lanyards on the market now are made from metal, cotton strands or some other fibre materials. But the lanyard of the AK2 is made from silicone which is MUCH more comfortable. It does not make your neck itchy.

This is proof of UWELL caring about the details.

Anyways, there’s nothing to complain about the unboxing experience. It’s simple; it gets to the point straightly. Nothing more to talk about.

Alright, let’s move on to the next part of this Caliburn AK2 Review – the Design of the Vape.

Caliburn AK2 Review: Vape Design

UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review - Device Details

After experiencing all these “RELX shaped” pod system vapes, I’m really starting to get aesthetic fatigue. It’s really refreshing to see something different.

Starting with the Caliburn KOKO, UWELL began to make these cute little biscuit shaped pod vapes, which attracted me immediately. Now we have a better version of the OG KOKO – the AK2.

The UWELL Caliburn AK2 is made of Aluminium Alloy and plastic. They made it like the metal casing is half covering the plastic parts, which is interesting.

And about the size, my hands are really small, and the AK2 is even smaller than my palm. It fits perfectly in the most shallow pockets of my jeans.

On the front, there’s the special check window on the top-left, and beside it is the slogan saying Keep on Keeping on and a line of numbers underneath it (I think it’s a coordinate or something). Below the numbers are the Caliburn branding and a square of some stripes. It’s really giving me an Off White vibe, to be honest.

The check window which the OG KOKO doesn’t have is definitely an upgrade. With that, you don’t have to pull out the pod every time just to see how much liquid is left. Also, it kind of makes it easier to clean the device since the window lets more light come through (if that makes sense).

The airflow and the LED indicator are on the metal side of the device. To be honest, it’s a little bit hard to see the indicator when you’re vaping. Almost got crossed eyes when doing it. But the position of the airflow is fine and reasonable.

There’s a little Caliburn branding and the special protrusion where you connect the lanyard on the plastic side.

And there’s a big KOKO branding on the back of the vape.

UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review - Pod Details

About the design of the UWELL Caliburn AK2 pod, since it’s the AK2 and the A2 are using the same pod, and I’ve talked about it on the UWELL Caliburn A2 Review. You can click here to check it out.

All in all, the design is really nice. It checks out all my favourite features of a vape. Ten out of ten.

User Experience

The Caliburn AK2 is draw-activated only, which is a con to me. Personally, I prefer button firing. I find it more satisfying. But it could be a pro for some vapers since you don’t have to worry about miss-firing your Caliburn no more.

The draw-activation is instant. The draw resistance is the same as the A2, somewhere between the RELX vapes and the Caliburn KOKO Prime, a bit looser than the UWELL Gabriel Respect. It’d be perfect if it was a bit tighter. But it’s fine after you get used to it.

I really enjoy the warmth of the Caliburn AK2, perfectly simulating the temp of cigarette smoke; it’s a bit warmer than RELX vapes tho. And thanks to the Pro Focs tech, the flavour is outstanding too.

The filling experience is just perfect. You can fill the pod while it’s installed in the device. Just with a little push, the drip tip is off. And you can fill your pod without any mess.

The UWELL Caliburn AK2 is about the same weight as the A2. And with its square shape, it’s easier to be put in your pocket without worrying about losing it. Or, you can use the specially designed lanyard in the kit, making it more convenient.

All in all, the user experience of the UWELL Caliburn AK2 review is perfect almost to me, except for the draw-activated-only part.

People Also Ask

Did UWELL Discontinue The Caliburn? Why Is Caliburn Discontinued?

Well, obviously no, UWELL didn’t discontinue the Caliburn series. They recently came out with the UWELL Caliburn A2, UWELL Caliburn AK2 and UWELL Caliburn G2, and many more colours of the AK2. So it’s safe to say that they haven’t given up on the Caliburn series and have been working on it.

If you’re talking about the OG Caliburn, then, yes, UWELL has discontinued the OG Caliburn device. It’s probably because now they’re making better products to replace it. They think it’s time for the OG Caliburn to retire.

Verdict

To sum up this UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review blog, the AK2 is an amazing refillable pod system vape. I love it and will rate it 9.5 out of 10. The 0.5 was for the draw-activation only. With that being said, it’s super convenient, it’s cute and small, the draw and the flavour are both perfect.

If you’d like an upgrade on your OG Caliburn, the UWELL Caliburn AK2 is the way to go!

Anyways, that’s all for today’s UWELL Caliburn AK2 Review.
