Caliburn A2 Review: Best Vape For 2022?

What’s up, vaper! Welcome back to VapePenZone Blog!

Just not very long ago, the world’s famous vape company UWELL released their very new Caliburn device – the Caliburn A2. It’s been trending since it’s out. Everybody wants it. I got one for myself the moment it was out. That’s how excited I was.

I always appreciate UWELL pod system vapes, and it never disappoints me. But looking back at the earlier versions, you’ll notice that they’re constantly making progress and upgrades, flavour-wise or design-wise.

Anyways, if you’d like to know more about this vape, about what’s the difference between Caliburn A2 and the OG Caliburn vape, if there’re any upgrades, let’s dive into this UWELL Caliburn A2 Review and find out!

Caliburn A2 Review: Unboxing

UWELL Caliburn A2 Review - Packge Content Details

The packaging looks clean and edgeless. The device I’m reviewing today is black, so the package is full black. Very business-looking style. On the centre of the front, there’s a reflective pic of the Caliburn A2 device. And on the back are features, the content info, specs, warnings, the company information and the product codes. And the social info of UWELL is on the side.

After you slide it open and get rid of the user manual and stuff, you can see our beautiful brand new device with a preinstalled pod and an extra spare pod.

You can get the device out very nicely and easily. The device comes turned off. Then you can get the preinstalled pod out from the device. There’s a plastic sticker on the pod’s bottom where it’s gonna be connected to the device. It’s for avoiding miss firing, which is considerate.

You should keep in mind that the Caliburn A2 Kit doesn’t come with a USB-C cable. So you’re gonna have to either use your phone cable or buy a new one.

UWELL actually explained why they cut the cable off. They said that they found many people didn’t need the cable anyways, so to save the customers some money and keep the price down, they chose not to add the cable there. I mean, it kind of makes sense to me. I can’t even count how many USB cables I’ve lost from the vape kits.

But it could be a problem for some of you iPhone users.

Design

UWELL Caliburn A2 Review - Vape Details

It’s a Caliburn A2 review after all, so now let’s take a closer look at the vape itself.

The texture is still aluminium alloy and PA, but the design looks a lot better than the OG Caliburn. A well-made clean pen-shaped vape can always win my heart. Compared to the OG Caliburn, the A2 device is perfectly polished. There’re no sharp edges. It’s all very smooth and rounded. No need to worry about getting yourself cut by your vape.

There’re 6 colours to choose from. My personal favourites are the Iris Purple and the Black one. But it’s up to you.

On the top of the vape, there’s a liquid check window. The early versions of Caliburn vapes do not have this kind of design, which means if you wanna check how much liquid is left, you have to pull the pod out. With this check window on Caliburn A2, you can do it without messing with the pod.

I do like this idea, but there’s a little problem. When the light is low, you can’t really see what’s in the pod. You still have to get it out to check. That kind of ruins the whole idea. But it’s just a tiny problem.

The airflow holes are on the side, same as many other pod vapes. Nothing special.

Under the check window, there’s a round fire button. Caliburn A2 has two different fire options – one is draw activated, another is button activated. I prefer button firing my vape. Gives me a sense of ritual. Although it totally depends on your personal preferences. They both work perfectly fine.

At the side bottom of Caliburn A2, there’s the Caliburn branding and the led indicator under it.

And about the Caliburn A2 pods, it’s still a top-fill pod. The coil is preinstalled in the pod, which means when the coil is out, you have to change the entire pod cuz the coil is attached to the pod. Different to the OG Caliburn, it’s easier to open the drip tip. You can open it while it’s installed in the Caliburn A2. Also, it’s magnetic. I personally prefer magnetic pods. They feel smoother.

Another thoughtful design on the Caliburn A2 pod is a minimum liquid line on it, and you can see it through the check window on the device. It tells you when to refill the pod to keep the coil moisturized. It’s super beginner-friendly.

User Experience

The Caliburn A2 is about the same weight as the RELX Infinity when both are without pod. But the A2 feels more even while the Infinity has more weight down on the bottom.

With the smooth design, the A2 feels very comfortable to hold.

The button is super satisfying to press. I can listen to the clicking sound all day, and I’m not even joking. Five clicks to turn the device on or off, it goes very smooth when you’re pressing the button continuously. The indicator will flash green 3 times when successfully turned on or off.

After you take the sticker on the new empty pod off, place it in the vape when it is off. Then you give the drip tip a push. It should come off very easily. It might be a bit tight on the first go, but it’ll be easier after that.

There’s no problem during the filling. But do keep 2 things in mind:

  1. There’re 3 holes on eacj Caliburn A2 pod – the airflow, the air-escaping hole, and then the filling hole. The filling hole is the biggest one with a red rubber protector. Also, you don’t wanna get too much liquid into the airflow. Cuz that’s where you’ll suck the vapour out.
  2. Do wait for 5 to 10 mins after you fill a new pod if you don’t like a burnt hit and a broken coil.

And after that, you can give your new vape a try.

One more thing that I like about the A2 is the mouthpiece. They made it more rounded and flatter than the OG Caliburn. So it’s definitely more comfortable and easier to put your mouth around it.

The draw activation is instant. And the draw resistance of the Caliburn A2 is not as tight as the RELX Infinity. It’s about middle tight. Not too empty and not too tight. The vapour is warmer than the Infinity. The vapour production is impressive, and the flavour is outstanding. It weakens the artificial sweet taste in the juice while bringing out the fragment and the flavouring. The 15w power makes the flavour stronger, giving you a decent throat hit. That is one thing the RELX vapes can’t do.

There’s almost zero leaking, but the condensate really is unavoidable. You do need to clean it every 1 to 3 days.

3 different colours indicate the battery life – green means there’s more than 60% battery, blue means there’s 30% to 60% left, red indicates it’s below 30%. Ten times of red flashes upon battery depletion. When the indicator flashes blue 3 times, the pod is not installed correctly.

It’s recommended to charge your A2 when the light is blue. It’s better to keep your vape battery more than 60% so that you can get the correct wattage for a better flavour.

The charging time (from 0 to 100%) is about 35 mins. This is very fast.

Do keep in mind that it’s not good for the vape to leave it charging overnight. It could damage your battery.
